BOXXPORT, the world’s leading B2B marketplace for container trading, strengthens its management team. BOXXPORT has appointed Paul Wolter as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In this role, he will be responsible for the strategy of the B2B trading marketplace for maritime containers and drive growth.

Previously, he was active in various places in the German and European startup ecosystem, most recently as Director of Public Affairs and Communications of the German Startups Association. His network and experience from previous activities within the German and European startup ecosystem are a valuable addition to the existing management setup and will contribute significantly to the success of the Hamburg-based startup. The appointment of Wolter as the new CEO is the first consequence of BOXXPORT’s transformation from a digitalization project of a German medium-sized company from the container service industry to an independent company in the startup ecosystem. The founder and previous CEO of BOXXPORT, Jan Frahnert, will remain on board operationally until the end of the year. After that, he will – together with Willem-Alexander Dous, the other founder of BOXXPORT – support BOXXPORT in an advisory capacity.

Paul Wolter, CEO of BOXXPORT: “I am very pleased to be able to work together in this exciting market in the future with the attractive business model of BOXXPORT, the strong tech focus, and above all the exceptionally motivated and international team. I am highly motivated to lead this team, together with our CDO Priya Ranjan, and to continue the successful development. Our common goal is to consistently develop BOXXPORT further in line with customer requirements in the coming years and to become an important part of the digital logistics supply chain.”BOXXPORT is the result of a digitalization project of the LOTUS Containers Group, one of the world’s leading market players in the container services industry, based near Hamburg, Germany. Prior to the go-live of BOXXPORT in July 2019, the company was spun off from the LOTUS Containers Group into an independent company. Since then, BOXXPORT has established itself as a digital B2B marketplace for container trading. BOXXPORT has succeeded in growing steadily and continuously increasing container throughput exponentially.

Jan Frahnert, founder of BOXXPORT: “What started as an internal digitalization project in an established company has developed into an independent company that digitalizes the trade of maritime containers. With this product, we help the container industry to make the most of the opportunities of digitalization. BOXXPORT brings transparency to the market, connects traders around the world, and enables market participants to trade containers quickly and highly efficiently. The current global challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have prompted companies across all industries to accelerate their rethinking of the use of digital solutions. Market participants are realizing the benefits of digital solutions and are driven to better align their processes and structures with volatility, flexibility, and efficiency. This is exactly the time BOXXPORT now wants to use with the strengthening of the management team to grow faster and to further strengthen its leading position in this attractive market. To take the company to the next level of growth, the baton must now be passed to a new form of management – that of a true startup. This is taking place as of today. With the expertise from the industry by us founders, coupled with the startup experience of the new co-founders, I am sure BOXXPORT will achieve its ambitious goals.”

Willem-Alexander Dous, Founder of BOXXPORT: “In the absence of self-interest of the world’s leading container service providers to create transparency and efficiency with the help of digital platforms, we as a medium-sized company have accepted this challenge with the firm intention to master it.”

Priya Ranjan, Chief Development Officer of BOXXPORT, will remain part of the management team. Ranjan has many years of experience in IT consulting, including building numerous tech teams within the ICT and automotive industries. The combination of industry knowledge, startup expertise, and IT know-how forms the optimal prerequisite to further accelerate BOXXPORT’s growth and thus contribute to digitizing the global container trade as part of the maritime economy.
